Our Purpose

The mission and purpose of the Dickson County Historical Society is to preserve the rich historical heritage of Dickson County. In order to fulfill this mission, we have established the following objectives:

(1) to study the events, happenings and people that make up the history of Dickson County;

(2) to encourage active participation by members of the Society and others, individually or collectively, in publishing or otherwise sharing facts and material about the County's history, including family history;

(3) to discover, prepare, preserve and disseminate knowledge of and data on the County's history;

(4) to encourage and help arouse and maintain an interest in the County's history in Dickson County's schools; and

(5) to recognize and commemorate historical events and places by markers and other means.
